The Breguet chronograph is not in the Tradition watch collection by chance. The watches in this collection embody the essence of the Breguet movement and the chronograph is one of the most delicate models to make.
For this Breguet Chronographe wristwatch from the Tradition collection, the company has designed a model unique on the chronograph watch market, a new chronograph model within a classic case but whose dial reveals all its complexity. Connoisseurs will immediately see a particular distribution of energy, a double movement, a double balance and a chronograph function that lasts 20 minutes - attributes that are unusual for chronograph watches but that Breguet has tamed at every turn to offer a truly unique mechanical collection.
This dial already embodies the tradition of the eponymous watch collection. It is an 18-carat silvered and hand-engineered 18-carat gold dial, off-centre at 12 o'clock. This guilloché character is specific to Breguet and its watches. This dial is signed and numbered Breguet. Its hour circle is in Roman numerals and its power reserve at 2 o'clock with a 20-minute counter at 10 o'clock. The Breguet "hollow apple" hands are made of blued steel, while the strap is made of Bordeaux leather. This Breguet Tradition Chronographe wristwatch wins the prize for timeless elegance, within its fluted case, typical of Breguet watches, which respects its tradition in every respect.
The mechanical movement of the Breguet Tradition Chronographe wristwatch, on the other hand, benefits from being relatively independent. This mechanical movement from the Manufacture offers not just a single balance but a double balance: a first balance that regulates the energy of hours and minutes, a second balance dedicated to regulating the energy of the chronograph, intended to be independent of the first part of this movement developed at the cost of a major research into fine watchmaking. Few watches have such technical boldness, coupled with a unique barrel spring that ensures the right energy for just displaying the hours and minutes, as well as the minutes of the chronograph - out of a total of 20 minutes maximum. Beyond these 20 minutes, the watches in this mechanical collection must have their movements recharged by the barrel spring which, once again, will activate the mechanism of this Breguet Chronograph model watch, Tradition collection, cog after cog.
The challenge of this Breguet chronograph mechanical movement is to offer, with each balance, wheel after wheel, proper energy management so that, depending on its use, the watch's power reserve is not consumed too quickly. The symmetrical escapements with inverted in-line anchor and silicon horns optimise the power reserve of this hand-wound movement, which, in the end, with this system independent of the hours and the chronograph, guarantees a power reserve of 55 hours.
This is a new type of mechanical watch movement that is emerging in this model but also a new approach of an independent chronograph. Breguet has presented more than one collection chronograph in numerous awards. Of these awards, the manufactory has won several, including prestigious awards at the Grand Prix de l'Horlogerie de Genève. The most prestigious prize, the Grand Prix de l'Aiguille d'Or, was awarded to Breguet at the Grand Prix de l'Horlogerie de Genève a few years ago. And this Breguet Tradition Chronographe wristwatch also remains worthy of such a prize in the chronograph category.
Today, it only takes a few minutes for such a model from the Tradition collection to win the votes of collectors of mechanical watches, who spot it according to the appearance of its dial, its case, the performance of the mechanical movement or the accuracy of its movement - or simply by the Breguet hands that fly over its guilloché dial! The mechanical chronograph wristwatch from Breguet's Tradition collection reveals its unique approach to movement, the classic watchmaking tradition, energy management and minute counting, at the price of a movement architecture that only Breguet can achieve in manufacturing.
