Fabergé Visionnaire DTZ

The Faberge Visionnaire DTZ watch from Faberge Watches

In just a few short years, the Faberge brand has managed to establish itself as timepiece manufacture truly worthy of the name Faberge, and the finest traditions of Perter Carl Faberge.  Faberge Watch has proven this with a string of watch releases demonstrated at events such as the annual December Dubai Watch Week and Baselworld in Basel, Switzerland, and models such as the Lady Compliquee watch (2015 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) Ladies’ High Mechanical Watch Prize Winner), the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ  (Dual Time Zone) watch (2016 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) Travel Time Watch Prize Winner), and most recently, the Faberge Watch Faberge Visionnaire Chronograph, which is sure to be a prize winner in time.

The launch of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch by Faberge Watches in 2016 followed the success of the brands first version of the Faberge Visionnaire, the Faberge Visionnaire 1, a stunning timepiece with a unique platinum case design and flying tourbillon complication produced in association with Swiss movement manufacture APRP (Audemars Piguet Renaud & Papi), in a limited edition of a mere 15 pieces. As the second watch in the Faberge Visionnaire Series, the launch of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch by Faberge Watches in 2016 followed the association established by both the Faberge Lady Compliquee Peacock Ladies’ Watch and the Faberge Winter Ladies’ Watch, with a watch and case design including an Agenhor caliber movement, Agenhor being the Swiss Haute Horlogerie movement manufacture owned by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht. The launch of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch by Faberge Watches in 2016 thus also marked the first public release of their Agenhor Cal.(caliber) 6924, a remarkable , highly complicated automatic timepiece movement of some 320 individual pieces that offers a power reserve of 50 hours, and of course, the “DTZ” or Dual Time Zone complication.

The VIP launch of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch by Faberge across various cities saw the attendance at the London event, held at the south bank’s South Bank Tower, of supermodel Lily Donaldson and a live DJ set by Vogue Williams, and events at the Colette boutique Paris and Salon QP. Marketing aside, suffice to say that the technical prowess evident in the design and manufacture of the Agenhor Cal. (caliber) 6924 from the Geneva, Switzerland based movement specialist was obviously sufficient to provide no hindrance to the 2016 launch of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch by Faberge resulting in it immediately winning the 2016 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) Travel Time Watch Prize. Credit for this prize, and the plaudits the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch received when first seen by the public at events such as the annual December Dubai Watch Week and Baselworld in Basel, Switzerland, as well as the previously mentioned events at London’s south bank South Bank Tower, the Colette Boutique Paris and Salon QP must also go to the overall watch and case design itself, which just like the Agenhor Cal.(caliber) 6924 movement is full of trademark Peter Carl Faberge elements of surprise.

The launch of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) watch by Faberge Watches in 2016 was actually a launch by Faberge of two variations of the Visionnaire DTZ, with the 43mm wide case design being offered in both 18K (karat) white gold with black DLC treated titanium case, and an 18k (karat) rose gold and polished titanium case option. Rest assured, both the 18K (karat) white gold with black DLC treated titanium case and 18K (karat) rose gold and polished titanium case versions are both truly spectacular gold watches, and rank as timepieces of the very highest order, with simply magnificent case and overall design, which while have no tourbillon complication, offer the wearer the practical benefit of a second hour and minute time zone display, albeit with a twist. Since the original launch by Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) and its beguiling secret second hour display, Faberge has released a new version of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) in Yellow Gold, the 18K (karat) yellow gold case and blue dial face design of this timepiece offering a more subtly different emotional palette to the 18K White Gold / Black DLC Titanium and 18K Rose Gold/Polished Titanium case models. All versions of the Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) offer the same watch dial design, a vista of concentric circles on a background of radiating lines, with truncated, luminous TC1 coated hour and minute hands appearing from beneath the large central gold dome. Hours and minute hands indicate to Arabic numerals and batons set inside a large, flanged, minute track with TC1 luminescent indices.  At the very center of that central dome, its likeness to an eye perhaps hinting that the wearer should put their own eye to it, for lies a Peter Carl Faberge like hidden surprise, a central lens, which when viewed from directly above, and only visible to the wearer, reveals the second time zone hour. A push-piece at 10 o’clock serves to advance the second time zone or ‘home’ hour and its magnified display. This is all perfectly visible through the watch’s dial side face anti-reflective coated crystal sapphire. But of course, as you would expect from a watch bearing the Faberge name and the Peter Carl Faberge connection, the secret surprises of the watch and movement do not stop there.

The full beauty of the automatic self winding Jean-marc Wiederrecht inspired Cal. (caliber) 6924 movement from the Geneva, Switzerland based movement specialist is revealed in all its glory beneath the case wide exhibition sapphire crystal watch case back, offering a heady mix of perlage, Cotes de Geneve, and hand polished and bevelled bridges. Continuing the Peacock theme established by the legacy of Peter Carl Faberge and by Faberge Watch with its Lady Compliquee Peacock watch, the 18K White Gold / Black DLC Titanium, 18K Rose Gold/Polished Titanium case and the 18K (karat) Yellow gold case and blue dial face versions of the DTZ Faberge Visionnaire all feature a peacock shaped lever which pecks at a snail-shaped cam to advance the transparent GMT disc. The very fact that the Jean-marc Wiederrecht inspired Cal. (caliber) 6924 is automatic is itself very well hidden from the case back sapphire crystal back view of the watch, the dial side rotor a highly effective mechanism in adding yet another Peter Carl Faberge element of surprise.

It is difficult to believe that just a few, short years ago, the historic name of Faberge, perhaps renowned as a name unlike any other in the field of jewellery and objets d’art, was a brand that had yet to be applied to a high-end timepiece, or at least, ladies’ and gentlemen’s watches. Faberge’s association with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht’s Agenhor, and particularly the launch of the fabulous Faberge Visionnaire DTZ (Dual Time Zone) have cemented their position as the rightful inheritors of the historic brand, with a watch that is as handsome in case design and detailing as it is a marvel of Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacture – a true timepiece for the future.
