Hublot does the par
The Hublot Manufacture has built its reputation with its Big Bang and its Unico movement, i. e. its manufacture movement, which is now used in a large number of Hublot wristwatches. The Hublot Unico movement is triggered by a push-piece, is detailed in its mechanism, and can be admired from the bottom of the case of most Big Bang models. The Unico movement is a strong marker of the Hublot watch.
An ingenious movement and push-piece mechanism
Today, Hublot is taking its famous Unico movement and transposing it into a new kind of Big Bang wristwatch for Hublot, an ingenious watch whose mechanism allows, by a simple push-button, to count the shots played in a game of golf.
Golf? A sport rarely addressed in mechanical watches, a sport whose movement can damage the movement of the wristwatch, its fragile mechanism. Hublot therefore had to design a variation of its Unico movement capable, for its Big Bang Golf wristwatch, of absorbing these shocks, these "bang" that each ball played makes to reach the hole of a game of golf.
Starting from scratch - reinventing your movement
It is this technical challenge that motivated Hublot to focus on the creation of a special Big Bang Golf wristwatch with Unico movement. Hublot has reviewed the pushers from scratch - on this wristwatch, they are in the shape of a putter, the golf club that allows you to reach the hole at the last stroke. When this pusher is activated, it counts one more shot, played in the golf game. An additional mechanism to the Unico movement makes it possible to "memorize" these shots, which a dedicated push-button then resets to zero, without the total number of shots played in the golf game being reset.
A highly reliable mechanism
These blows put a severe strain on the Unico movement mechanism of this Golf model but, to protect his watch, Hublot designed a carbon fibre case for it. Carbon fibre is rarely used in luxury watches but is sometimes found in sports watches. Hublot has made it a key element for its Golf wristwatch. This carbon fibre is also present on the bezel and carbon fibre is still found on the back of the watch.
Titanium first!
In addition to carbon fibre, titanium is the second key element designed to protect the mechanism of the Unico movement of Hublot's Big Bang Golf watch: titanium on the bezel, titanium on the push-piece at 2 o'clock, titanium on the push-piece at 4 o'clock, titanium still on the push-piece at 8 o'clock, titanium and finally on the bracelet, equipped with a titanium loop. The rest of the bracelet is made of rubber, an ally of the sports watch and which has become, like the Big Bang or the Unico, a marker for Hublot watches. The strap of Big Bang watches is often interchangeable and this Big Bang Unico Golf watch is no exception, with a rubber strap and a velcro strap, ideal for good wrist support during the blows of a game of golf.
When it was launched, Hublot's Big Bang Unico Golf was worn by Dustin Johnson, a golf professional who showed the use of each pushpiece on his watch, also showing that the black of his carbon and bracelet made it an elegant watch, with zero defects for the hits and holes of a golf course as well as for everyday wristwatches.
