TUDOR pays tribute to the brand's first diving watches with the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, a model whose dimensions are reminiscent of those of the era. Equipped with a TUDOR Manufacture movement, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight is designed for slim wrists and vintage enthusiasts.
THE ESSENCE OF BLACK BAY
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight model is named after the precious metal of its case, of course, but also after the year 1958, when the first TUDOR diver's watch, the 7924 or "Big Crown", was introduced. Among other aesthetic references to this historic watch, this model features a 39 mm diameter case that is close to the characteristic proportions of the 1950s.
A NEW "NAVY BLUE" VERSION
In 1969, TUDOR launched a diving watch with a blue dial and bezel. The other sports watches in the brand's collection were also quickly adorned with blue, creating a lasting aesthetic signature known as "TUDOR blue". Adopted by the French Navy for its TUDOR diving watches in the 1970s, this livery has become part of our imagination. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight "Navy Blue" model follows in the footsteps of this tradition with its navy blue dial and bezel. This color is also found on the "soft touch" strap offered with this model and made from a synthetic material with a pleasant touch, similar to flannel.
THE MANUFACTURE CALIBER MT5402
Three years after presenting its first Manufacture caliber, TUDOR announces a second family of movements, with the Manufacture caliber MT5402. Measuring 26 mm in diameter, the MT5402 caliber displays the hours, minutes and seconds functions and is intended for use on medium-sized TUDOR watches. It has the typical appearance and finish of TUDOR Manufacture calibers. Its openworked rotor is entirely satin-finished, while its bridges and plate feature alternating sandblasted surfaces and laser decoration. Its construction is designed for sturdiness, longevity and reliability, as is the case with its variable inertia balance maintained by a solid double-anchored bridge. With its 70-hour power reserve, the Manufacture caliber MT5402 is certified chronometer by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).
STRAP
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight comes with a "soft-touch" strap with a fabric strap. Handcrafted using the Jacquard technique by a century-old family business in the Saint-Etienne region of France, this fabric strap is one of TUDOR's signatures.
