I started talking to Eveline Genta, then Seiko, 7 years ago, and I'm delighted. I am delighted that this noble re-edition of this Locomotive timepiece, originally created by my mentor Gerald Genta, is finally seeing the light of day.

The locomotive designed by Gérald Genta is being reborn to mark Credor's 50th anniversary.
Credor was born in 1974, employing delicate craft techniques to achieve precision in watchmaking with a Japanese aesthetic.
Since its inception, Credor has been rooted in Japanese beauty and craftsmanship, while cultivating an openness to artistic influences from diverse cultures to create extraordinary timepieces unlike any other in the world.
Legendary watch designer Gérald Genta’s relationship with Seiko dates back to the 1970s. He was delighted to design a watch for the company and, in a career that has produced a number of famous watches, the Locomotive has become a symbol of the deep friendship and mutual respect between Genta and Seiko.
The name Locomotive evokes the power of a moving train and is also a French term meaning ‘driving force’. Genta chose the name in the hope that it would drive Credor forward and, by extension, Seiko into the future. To the famous designer’s credit, the Locomotive has become one of the best-known timepieces in Credor’s history.

Since its inception, Credor has been rooted in Japanese beauty and craftsmanship, while cultivating an openness to artistic influences from diverse cultures to create extraordinary timepieces unlike any other in the world.
Now, to celebrate Credor’s 50th anniversary, one of its most important watches, the Locomotive designed by Gérald Genta, has been reborn in a limited edition of 300.
For this new creation, every detail has been re-examined and reproduced on the basis of Gérald Genta’s original sketch.
At the same time, Genta’s bold and inimitable design codes are expressed through modern watchmaking capabilities and expertise, enhancing the depth and beauty of the new creation.
An iconic case and bracelet faithful to Genta’s original sketch
The Locomotive’s emblematic hexagonal bezel with six screws has been retained. However, the screws have been adapted to be functional rather than merely decorative, to allow for long-term use and easy maintenance.
The case features different types of finish on its surfaces, from the bezel to the sides, adding to the beauty and appeal of the overall design.
The case and bracelet are now made from high-intensity titanium, an alloy that is 30% lighter and more scratch-resistant than stainless steel, maximising durability and providing long-lasting beauty while enhancing comfort on the wrist.
The black dial made using the latest watchmaking techniques
The black dial is inspired by a steam locomotive. Its pattern has been created with precision using cutting-edge technology. Based on Genta’s original sketch, a digital rendering of the dial with around 1,600 radial lines was created, reinterpreting the original motif. A special machine was developed so that each line of the pattern could be engraved directly onto the dial. The pattern is carefully crafted to achieve hand-engraved quality and an exquisite textured pattern that shines beautifully.
The Locomotive model propels Credor into the future

Powered by Credor’s latest fine movement
The watch is equipped with the CR01 calibre, a new automatic movement exclusive to Credor. Less than 9 mm thick, the new three-hand movement with date allows the new Locomotive to retain a slender profile and elegant proportions, just like Gérald Genta’s famous original timepiece, which used a quartz movement.
