A Watch Inspired by the Breathtaking Nature of the Genbi Gorge
In the south of Iwate Prefecture, home to the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, the Iwai River winds its way through the spectacular Genbi Gorge, also known as “Genbikei” in Japanese. The unique hues of its waters, rocks and vegetation inspired our craftsmen to create the dial of this limited-edition watch.
A dial capturing the beauty of the Genbi Gorge
The Iwai River, rising from Mount Kurikoma and a tributary of the Kitakami River, flows into the Pacific Ocean. As it flows through the two-kilometre-long Genbi Gorge, it creates an enchanting landscape, where the green and blue hues of the clear stream mingle with the wild valley. Recognized as a Natural Monument in Japan, this mystical landscape inspired our master watchmakers to design a textured dial in light green tones, reflecting the natural harmony and gentle murmur of the Iwai River.
