Laurent's opinion
The Variant G1 shows that the Projekt 01 can soften without ever betraying itself: a subtle blue, a strong presence, and always that unique neo-brutalist identity.

Kollokium Projekt 01 – Variant G1 :boldness in blue

The iconic, textured dial of the Projekt 01 returns in a new interpretation that could be described as the most restrained to date—and this is intentional. After exploring quasi-futuristic worlds, Kollokium brings its neo-brutalist design back down to earth with a softer palette centered around shades of blue.

The Variant G1 stands out with its blue PVD hour and minute hands, featuring a blue Super-LumiNova center, and its white second hand, which provides a sharp, graphic contrast.

Two years after its launch: Project 01 goes blue

To celebrate the second anniversary of Projekt 01, Kollokium unveils the sixth evolution of its model (K,P–n°01), called Variant G. While this version adopts a more mature tone, it does not forget its sense of spectacle.

A limited edition of 499 pieces is available, with a single dial but two possible sets of hands—to be chosen according to the desired aesthetic and readability.

Why blue? An expectation… and a challenge

Since the inception of Projekt 01, customers and collectors have been clamoring for a blue version. True to its experimental nature, however, Kollokium chose its moment carefully. After black versions with fluorescent accents, then cement gray, then purple, the brand is now exploring a more subtle interpretation: working with contrasts, volumes, and textures to pay tribute to a color that is as elegant in watchmaking as it is in style.

As always with Kollokium, expect a generous helping of Super-LumiNova.

Two sets of hands for the same character

As with the Variant E, the team couldn’t make up its mind. Should they opt for the original aesthetic, with a contrasting white seconds hand and main hands that blend into the dial? Or should they prioritize better readability with non-luminous hour/minute hands in metallic blue PVD edged with white and a deep blue seconds hand?

The answer: offer both and leave the choice to collectors.

An extraordinary case, manufactured like no other

The Projekt 01 features a 316L steel case made using a method that is completely atypical in watchmaking: die casting.

This is an ancient industrial process that is rarely, if ever, used for watches. Why? Because it was said to be impossible—or inadvisable.

But it is the only way to achieve this raw, uniform, almost utilitarian texture, which is impossible to reproduce using traditional machining techniques.

Neither matte nor frosted: something in between. A deliberately industrial look that is surprisingly soft to the touch and, above all, completely different from the usual polished or satin finishes.

A bracelet designed for everyday wear

The strap plays a key role in the comfort of the Projekt 01. Inspired by outdoor equipment (and a certain smartwatch), it was developed by Kollokium to be functional, durable, and comfortable in all circumstances.

Just the right amount of elasticity, breathable and quick-drying, it is easily adjustable thanks to a hook system and sewn loops. A resolutely utilitarian approach.

A reliable, no-frills Swiss movement

Kollokium does not claim to be a watchmaker—and is fully aware of this. For the Projekt 01, the brand has chosen the G101 automatic caliber from La Joux-Perret, offering 68 hours of power reserve. Ideal for putting the watch down on Friday and picking it up again on Monday.

With no intervention by Kollokium on the movement, it remains deliberately unsigned and undecorated — in any case, it is invisible.
