Amida Digitrend Take Off (first edition): A New Back to the Future

In recent years, the trend in the watch industry has been towards revival: forgotten brands are being reborn and their iconic models reintroduced. Such is the case with Clément Meynier* and Matthieu Allègre, who are now relaunching the famous Amida Digitrend pilot’s watch, originally presented in 1976. The model will be available for 3,500 euros when it is launched next May.

The rebirth of a 70s icon

Amida, the pioneer of Swiss digital watches, makes a remarkable comeback with the reissue of the unforgettable Digitrend. Baselworld 1976 saw the presentation of this Swiss watch with its futuristic lines, inspired by the sports cars of the time. With its hybrid mechanical movement and LED-style display, it made quite an impression. This rebirth, scheduled for April 30, 2024, is an ode to the 70s, a time when creativity and innovation went hand in hand.

Retro-futuristic design

The new Amida Digitrend Take Off retains the distinctive elements of its predecessor, while incorporating modern enhancements. Featuring a 40 mm 316L steel case, water-resistant to 50 meters, this pilot’s watch allows you to read the time without turning your wrist, thanks to a vertical digital display. The LRD (Light Reflecting Display) system, patented on April 5, 1973, uses a sapphire crystal prism to project the hours and minutes vertically.

A revolutionary mechanical movement

The Digitrend is equipped with a 4Hz automatic caliber with a 44-hour power reserve, visible through a partially open caseback. Soprod’s Newton movement includes a specific nine-component module for the hour and minute display, guaranteeing high precision and optimum reliability.

Unrivalled style

The anthracite alcantara strap with orange calfskin lining adds a touch of luxury and comfort. The aesthetics have also been revised, with redesigned typography and a modernized logo by Johann Terrettaz, famous for his creations for Urwerk and Akrivia. The steel bracelet is also included in the subscription offer and integrated into the price.

Hybrid distribution

The new Digitrend will be available for pre-order from May 28 to June 15, 2024, with deliveries scheduled for October. This hybrid distribution method will combine e-commerce and sales via a dozen selected retailers, including Chronopassion of course. The founders will meet with enthusiasts at an afternoon event scheduled for May 28, 2024, from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Chronopassion.

Join the Amida Community

Buying an Amida Digitrend means joining a community of enthusiasts. The first purchasers of the inaugural Take-Off Edition series will become “Crew Members” of Amida, celebrating their commitment to this unique project.

The rebirth of the Digitrend is more than just a throwback, it’s an invitation to relive the audacity and creativity of the 70s with today’s technologies.

Subscription launch on May 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Chronopassion, in the presence of the creators of the Amida brand relaunch (for delivery in November 2024).
