BULGARI x Chronopassion x Mo Coppoletta The art of tattooing sets the Octo Finissimo Tattoo Fuoco ablaze

Completely “tattooed” with flames, the rose gold Octo Finissimo Tattoo Fuoco concludes the Tattoo trilogy based on natural elements. This flamboyant face of the icon once again makes it a contemporary art object, born of an extraordinary collaboration between three enthusiasts, Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Laurent Picciotto and Mo Coppoletta.

Aria, Aqua, Fuoco! Three natural elements forge the “skin” of the Octo Finissimo. The origins of this trilogy lie in the encounter between three design and watchmaking enthusiasts: Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, inspired Product Creation Executive Director at BULGARI, Laurent Picciotto, influential founder of Chronopassion, and Mo Coppoletta, a London artist renowned for his extensive use of contemporary tattoo art. After Aria, studded with clouds and stars (2021), and Aqua, with its powerful aquatic volutes (2022), the final chapter of the Octo Finissimo Tattoo brings the three men together one last time around the Fire. While the two previous opuses were in sandblasted titanium, the Fuoco creation is set ablaze by the radiance of rose gold – a material with warm nuances so dear to BULGARI.

Since its origins, the Octo has taken on many facets – constantly reinvented as a pretext for almost limitless creativity. Its octagonal lines, as rigorously geometric as they are versatile, offer a vast field of exploration, both technically – the collection holds 8 finesse records – and aesthetically. Light and thin at just 5.15 mm, Octo Finissimo hugs the wrist like a second skin. The Octo is the ideal platform for expressing BULGARI’s expertise,” says Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani. With each new creation, we start from a blank page, with infinite creative possibilities. This third and final instalment in the Octo Finissimo Tattoo trilogy underlines the versatile nature of this model, as well as its multiple faces, thanks in particular to decorative elements inspired by the natural elements of air, water and, finally, fire”.

I’ve been a fan of the Octo Finissimo since its inception,” explains Mo Coppoletta, “because of its powerful yet refined design. To interpret such a prestigious canvas, I wanted to convey both visual and palpable emotions – such as the changing natural elements – in a narrative in three graphic chapters. For this third chapter, the basic canvas is rose gold. I wanted to express the warmth and opulence of this metal through a fiery motif and voluptuous shapes that contrast with the linearity of the case and bracelet. Thus was born ”Fuoco”, in all its visual power.”

Octo Finissimo is transcended by the stylistic language of tattooing, without ever losing its legendary lightness. Two contemporary art forms – the watchmaking icon and the tattoo – are brought together in the timelessness of precious metal. “In rose gold, the flames of time intertwine, revealing the intensity of an eternal energy that burns with grace,” says Laurent Picciotto. Under the sign of fire, rose gold lends itself to the precision of laser engraving for an almost complete tattoo. While the dial, case and bracelet are ablaze with flames, the “skin” is left “naked” on the bezel, in striking contrast.

Fifteen examples of this limited series, powered by an extraordinary 2.23 mm thick automatic mechanical caliber with a 60-hour power reserve, are available exclusively from Chronopassion in Paris.
