Recreation of the original 1960 model for the 60th anniversary of Grand Seiko.
2020 is a very special year for Grand Seiko, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Grand Seiko was founded in 1960. At the Seiko watchmaking workshop in Suwa, central Japan, a dedicated team worked tirelessly to create a watch that combined precision, durability, comfort and design. Its results were crowned with success on December 18, 1960, with a 14-carat solid gold watch, equipped with a flat movement, whose precision met the strictest international standards of the time. This creation was such that it was named Grand Seiko.
To celebrate this exceptional year, the collection is being expanded with a recreation of the first Grand Seiko watch of 1960.
Flat, precise and true to its heritage
The shape of the case, the slightly domed dial and the hands faithfully reproduce the original 1960 model. The caseback now incorporates a sapphire crystal revealing the superb finishes of the movement. Following the current trend, the case opening of this new model is initially 35 mm wider, increasing to 38 mm. Its bracelet has a folding clasp that is very practical to wear.
