A spring drive jewel inspired by omiwatari
This timepiece is the second to be inspired by the legend of Omiwatari, literally “crossing of the Gods”. Every winter, Lake Suwa, near our Manufacture, freezes and ridges form on its surface: according to local legend, these ridges are the path taken by the gods from one shore to the other. True or not, this legend inspired the artisans at Shinshu Watch Studio to create a subtle dial for this hand-wound Spring Drive timepiece. This new model represents the color and texture of Lake Suwa’s snow-covered ice with a white dial, while its big sister, the SBGY007, which was introduced in 2021 and is now one of Grand Seiko’s bestsellers, was dressed in a light blue dial.
The bracelet is composed of nine rows ensuring a flexible and precise fit on the wrist.
The watch is powered by the 9R31 Spring Drive caliber with a double spring barrel, offering a 72-hour power reserve when fully wound. Its fine finishing is visible through the case back, as is the power reserve indicator.
