GRAND SEIKO COLLECTION PATRIMOINE 44GS SBGW299 blue/SBGW297 white
"Time, Art and Precision: Grand Seiko, Japanese Aestheticism on Your Wrist."

Two 44GS reinterpretations, inspired by Japanese fans.
The Grand Seiko style is echoed in the sunburst pattern on the dial, which embodies Japanese aesthetics. 1967 saw the launch of the 44GS, a watch in which the Grand Seiko style was fully realized. The Grand Seiko style that took shape in the 44GS draws its inspiration from the straight lines and flat surfaces found in traditional Japanese crafts such as sliding paper doors, folding screens and fans. These emblematic codes of Japanese culture have been taken up again for the dials of these two timepieces. The sunburst motif of these two novelties is created from a series of flat surfaces and protruding edges reminiscent of kamisen, Japanese folding paper fans. The art of Japanese fan-making involves many stages, requiring great patience and precision on the part of the craftsmen. The characteristic angular shape of folding paper fans allows for a complex interplay of light and shadow.
The flame-blued steel seconds hand marks time on the textured white dial of reference SBGW297. These timepieces are powered by mechanical caliber 9S64, a hand-wound movement with a maximum continuous power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound.

This reference is a modern reinterpretation of Grand Seiko’s most emblematic design.
With a width of 36.5 mm, it is the smallest 44GS in the collection, suitable for both men and women.
The perfectly flat surfaces, achieved through Grand Seiko’s Zarats polishing, offer mirror-like reflections and alternate with brushed surfaces, the two meeting at straight edges.
