Laurent's opinion
For me, the Pioneer Flying Hours Steel 3240-1200 perfectly embodies the spirit of H. Moser & Cie.: an independent, intelligent, and free watch that transforms a demanding watchmaking complication into a simple, obvious, and almost playful reading experience. A modern, unpretentious piece, designed to be worn every day while remaining deeply watchmaking.

Description

The satellite jumping hour according to H. Moser & Cie.

With the Pioneer Flying Hours in steel (ref. 3240-1200), H. Moser & Cie. offers a radically different way of reading the time, combining independent haute horlogerie with a contemporary sporting spirit. This version marks a decisive evolution in the history of Flying Hours: for the first time, the satellite display adopts an instantaneous jumping hour, offering immediate readability and a more intuitive experience.

Inspired by the satellite systems that have shaped modern watchmaking, the Pioneer Flying Hours in steel showcases time through a mechanical device that is as graphic as it is fascinating. Three fixed discs, concealed beneath the dial, rotate to reveal the hours in succession in a dedicated window. In the center, an openworked disc displays the minutes on a 120° arc, moving in a permanent orbit. Time is no longer frozen: it is in constant motion.

The smoked white dial, a strong aesthetic signature of this model, reinforces the minimalist approach dear to the manufacturer. True to Moser’s DNA, it is completely devoid of logos and hour markers, leaving all the space to the mechanics and dynamics of the display. A confident visual purity that gives this watch an instantly recognizable identity.

Housed in a 42.8 mm steel case, water-resistant to 12 ATM, the Pioneer Flying Hours is designed as an everyday watch: robust, comfortable, and perfectly suited to urban use as well as more demanding environments. Sporty without being ostentatious, technical without unnecessary demonstration, it embodies the idea of fine watchmaking freed from traditional codes.

At the heart of the watch beats the HMC 240 automatic caliber, developed and manufactured in-house. Equipped with a bidirectional winding system, it offers a minimum power reserve of three days. Its tungsten oscillating weight ensures optimal efficiency, while the escapement and balance spring, also designed by H. Moser & Cie., demonstrate total technical mastery. The anthracite-finished bridges and plates underscore the movement’s understated, contemporary character.

Unlimited in production but far from ordinary, the Pioneer Flying Hours Steel 3240-1200 is designed for independent watch enthusiasts seeking an innovative, legible, and deeply sensory complication. A watch that does not simply tell the time, but brings it to life, making it beat and jump—with a freedom that is unmistakably Moser.
