Back to the land of dreams
Discover MB&F’s new HM8 Mark 2, the most technically advanced watch to date, as part of our ongoing commitment to the automotive world. Inspired by the bold design of the 1970s, this watch embodies MB&F’s deep connection with cars.
Since MB&F’s first automobile-inspired creations, such as the HM5 in 2012, the HMX in 2015 and the HM8 in 2016, these watches have been distinguished by their original speedometer-shaped displays. It’s this retro-futuristic design that makes them instantly recognizable.
MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser’s passion for cars goes back to his childhood. He dreamed of becoming a car designer and spent hours drawing cars. Although he strayed into the watch industry, he finally found a way to realize his dream by transposing automotive design into a watch.
The HM8 Mark 2 features a unique display thanks to sapphire prisms that display the hours and minutes in a jumping, trailing manner. This innovative system enhances legibility by increasing the size of the numerals, creating an almost digital effect. What’s more, the numerals are drawn upside down and rendered right side up by the prisms, adding a touch of fascination to this exceptional watch.
The HM8 Mark 2 case is inspired by the iconic Porsche 918 Spyder and the Zagatto Double Bubble, giving it a sporty yet elegant look. The construction of the watch is based on an independent watertight chassis, reminiscent of automotive construction techniques.
MB&F has pushed back the limits of watchmaking technology to create this exceptional timepiece. The titanium chassis and CarbonMacrolon® body were meticulously machined, requiring complex and precise work. What’s more, creating the curved sapphire crystal required a level of complexity 30 to 40 times greater than that of a dome, representing a real technical challenge.
The HM8 Mark 2’s movement is powered by a 22-carat gold asteroax rotor, which requires complex and precise manufacturing. What’s more, the crown of this watch features a “double disengagement” system, offering both practicality and security.
With the HM8 Mark 2, MB&F offers a watch that combines technical sophistication, legibility, elegance and comfort. It’s also a reminder that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. Discover the HM8 Mark 2 and let yourself be carried away to the land of childhood dreams.
