With the HM8 Mark 2, MB&F takes the automotive dream in watchmaking even further. It is a piece that has it all: spectacular design, radical technicality, and collector spirit. It is not viewed as a watch, but as a miniature supercar that you are allowed to wear on your wrist.

MB&F HM8 Mark 2 – Watchmaking in time with supercars
When a childhood dream becomes an iconic watch
With the HM8 Mark 2, MB&F brilliantly reconnects with its passion for automobiles. A strong bond that began in 2012 with the HM5, continued with the HMX in 2015 and the first HM8 in 2016. These iconic creations share a common language: a horizontal speedometer-style display nestled on the case, and an avant-garde design inspired by the 1970s.
In 2023, MB&F presented the HM8 Mark 2, an unapologetic tribute to supercars. After the British Racing white and green editions—the latter limited to 33 pieces—the model returns in 2024 in a brilliant sapphire blue livery. In 2025, a new purple series will be launched, also limited to 33 pieces, combining automotive aesthetics and watchmaking expertise.
A watch inspired by dream cars
The HM8 Mark 2 draws on the childhood memories of MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser, who dreamed of becoming a car designer. Unable to afford the legendary ArtCenter College of Design, he turned to engineering at EPFL—before finally finding his calling in watchmaking. The HM8 is the realization of this childhood dream in the form of a radically different mechanical watch.
A unique display, intuitive reading
MB&F revisits a vintage concept with contemporary technology: the 1976 Amida Digitrend. Thanks to a set of sapphire prisms, the HM8 Mark 2 displays jumping hours and trailing minutes vertically, while maintaining a horizontal layout of the discs. The result is optimal readability, even while driving, enhanced by Super-LumiNova® backlit numerals applied with extreme precision.
Automotive construction down to the last detail
The parallels with the automotive world do not stop at design. The HM8 Mark 2 features a chassis construction—a first in watchmaking. An ultra-technical titanium chassis is fitted with a body made of CarbonMacrolon®, an innovative composite material developed especially for MB&F. Lightweight, durable, polished or microblasted, this material is eight times lighter than steel.
The colors—white, British Racing green, sapphire blue, and now deep purple—are achieved by adding metallic mineral pigments, as in high-end automotive paints. Each shade is unique, with a brilliance and depth that changes with the light.
Mechanical complication and extreme finishing
Under the hood is a modified Girard-Perregaux automatic movement with a 22-karat gold astero-axe rotor with impressive finishes: one of the blades is only 0.2 mm thick! Another feat is the double-curved sapphire crystal, 30 to 40 times more complex to produce than a standard dome, made by a single supplier worldwide.
Finally, the rotating unlocking crown – a world first – ensures safe use in automotive “double clutch” mode: push, turn, and the magic happens.
MB&F HM8 Mark 2 – More than a watch, a manifesto
With the HM8 Mark 2, MB&F condenses more than ten years of automotive exploration in watchmaking. More technical, more legible, more daring, this watch embodies the perfect intersection of mechanical art and pure passion. Its sculptural design, onboard technology, and colors inspired by the most beautiful supercars make it an essential collector’s item.
Available in an ultra-limited edition of 33 pieces, the purple MB&F HM8 Mark 2 embodies the ultimate mechanical dream. A watch for those who refuse to choose between performance, creativity, and emotion.
