Here, mechanical resonance becomes a mesmerizing spectacle, enhanced by an aventurine dial reminiscent of a starry sky. Two independent time zones, a fascinating design, and rare elegance, all within a 39-mm case. A true feat of watchmaking, limited to 10 pieces.
Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine: Two time zones beneath a starry sky
With the Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine, Armin Strom combines one of its most unique horological complications with a dial that evokes the depth of a night sky. This new interpretation of the Dual Time GMT Resonance features two independent time displays, a patented resonance mechanism, and an aventurine dial whose shimmering reflections contrast with the mechanical architecture of the movement.
Produced in a limited edition of just 10 pieces, this 39-mm stainless steel watch combines a complication designed for travelers, an original watchmaking construction, and hand-finished details.
An aventurine dial with celestial reflections
Aventurine gives this Dual Time GMT Resonance a distinctive visual identity. Crafted using traditional glassmaking techniques, this material features a multitude of shimmering particles that evoke a starry sky. Its reflections vary depending on the watch’s orientation and ambient light, creating an impression of depth and movement.
The two time displays are set on aventurine dials surrounded by azure-black chapter rings. The applied hour markers and faceted hands—polished and finished in rose gold—add a warm touch to this composition dominated by deep blue and black.
Beneath the displays, the rose-gold movement plate accentuates the contrast with the steel components and rhodium-plated elements. This combination of materials and finishes highlights the caliber’s three-dimensional construction, with its two regulating organs taking center stage.
Two independent time zones, intuitive readability
The Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine allows the wearer to track the time in two time zones simultaneously thanks to two separate hour and minute displays.
Unlike a traditional GMT watch equipped with an additional hand, each time zone here has its own dial and its own day/night indicator.
This layout allows the wearer to immediately see the local time and the time in a second location, while distinguishing between day and night in each of the two time zones.
The polished and blackened steel day/night discs complement this symmetrical design, providing a clear readout of both time displays.
Mechanical Resonance at the Heart of the ARF22 Caliber
The distinctive feature of this Armin Strom lies in its in-house ARF22 manual-winding caliber, entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in-house.
This movement incorporates two independent regulating systems connected by a patented resonance spring. This mechanism allows the two balance wheels to interact and synchronize their oscillations.
The phenomenon of resonance is based on the interaction of two oscillators which, when properly coupled, tend to adopt a common rhythm. Armin Strom harnesses this physical principle to enhance the movement’s timekeeping stability.
The synchronization of the two balance wheels is visible from the dial side, transforming the caliber’s operation into a true mechanical spectacle.
Comprising 231 components and 40 jewels, the ARF22 caliber operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz—or 25,200 vibrations per hour—and features a 42-hour power reserve.
A mechanical architecture enhanced by hand-finished details
The Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine reveals its movement through sapphire crystals on both sides of the case.
On the dial side, the mirror-polished balance bridge immediately catches the eye. Its steel surfaces and hand-beveled edges contrast with the rose gold-colored mainplate.
The gear train bridges visible on the case back echo this warm tone, creating aesthetic continuity between the two sides of the caliber.
The entire movement features traditional watchmaking finishes: hand-polished bevels, black polishing, circular satin finishing, perlage, and Côtes de Genève.
True to its manufacturing philosophy, Armin Strom performs a double assembly of each movement to verify its operation and the quality of its workmanship.
A 39-mm case for an exceptional complication
Despite featuring two regulating organs and two independent time displays, the Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine maintains modest proportions.
Its stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter and is only 9.05 mm thick. Its lug-to-lug length of 44.50 mm contributes to its balanced fit on the wrist.
The watch is fitted with a matte gray alligator strap with matching stitching, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle.
Water-resistant to 5 ATM, this limited edition of 10 pieces combines Armin Strom’s research into mechanical resonance with an aesthetic inspired by the observation of the sky.
