It’s interesting how a dial that appears quite understated comes to life the moment you look at it. The lines, the numerals integrated into the design, and especially the dancing disc at 6 o’clock create a constant sense of movement without ever detracting from the overall elegance. Very Viennese in spirit, and truly unique.

- With the Waltz No. 1 Ornament Edition, Carl Suchy & Söhne takes its graphic and architectural approach to watchmaking even further. Its silver-and-black dial is not merely decorated with a pattern: it is entirely built around a geometric grid of concentric lines into which the hour markers blend.
- The numerals 12, 3, 6, and 9 are neither applied nor set on the dial. They are an integral part of its structure, as if they emerged directly from the design. The slender black hands traverse this composition without disrupting its balance.
- At 6 o’clock, the Waltzing Disc—Carl Suchy & Söhne’s signature feature—completes a full rotation every minute. Its movement periodically complements the lines of the dial, introducing a constant, discreet yet fascinating animation.
- A dial designed like a work of graphic art
- The Waltz No. 1 Ornament Edition draws inspiration from the Viennese modernist tradition and the desire to reduce decoration to its essential structure.
- The silver-and-black galvanized dial is based on a precise sequence of concentric lines. The rhodium-plated hour markers and the four cardinal numerals are seamlessly integrated into this geometric design.
- The result is a dial whose appearance shifts depending on the light and the angle from which it is viewed. From a distance, the overall design appears extremely orderly and almost minimalist. As you get closer, its graphic complexity and the depth of its construction become much more apparent.
