The Variant G2 succeeds in bringing a new clarity to Projekt 01 without losing any of its raw, experimental character. A more subdued blue, perhaps, but still just as striking.
Kollokium Projekt 01 – Variant G2: blue from a different angle
The iconic dial of the Projekt 01, with its pitted, three-dimensional surface, returns in a completely new version—probably the most restrained ever offered by Kollokium, and deliberately presented as such. After exploring worlds straight out of science fiction, the Variant G brings the neo-brutalist design of the Projekt 01 back to a softer register, dominated by a palette of subtle blues.
The Variant G2 stands out with its white hour and minute hands, featuring a blue PVD center, as well as its blue PVD second hand. This combination enhances readability while respecting the model’s graphic DNA.
Two years already: the sixth evolution of Projekt 01
To celebrate the second anniversary of the Projekt 01 (K,P–n°01), Kollokium presents the Variant G, available in two hand configurations and limited to 499 pieces. This new version adopts more mature tones, without sacrificing the sense of contrast and sculptural dimension that made the model so successful.
Why blue? An obvious choice… long resisted
From the launch of Projekt 01, collectors and friends of the brand have been clamoring for a blue model. True to its independent spirit, however, Kollokium waited for the right moment. After black with fluorescent accents, cement gray, and then purple, the brand is now exploring a more controlled interpretation of volumes and textures, where blue becomes a subtle language.
As always with Kollokium, Super-LumiNova occupies a generous place—a signature that the house proudly claims.
The Variant G2: assertive legibility
Unlike the Variant G1, which plays on tone-on-tone blue, the G2 focuses on contrast.
The white hour and minute hands, combined with a blue PVD center, offer excellent legibility. The more discreet blue PVD second hand harmoniously completes this composition.
As with the Variant E before it, the team couldn’t decide between two hand configurations… so they decided to offer both. The choice is up to collectors.
A unique case, manufactured like no other
The Projekt 01 features a 316L steel case made using a process that is extremely rare in watchmaking: die-casting.
A bold, almost provocative choice, designed to achieve a raw, uniform texture that cannot be reproduced by conventional machining. The result is a surface that is neither matte nor frosted, but somewhere in between: industrial, almost utilitarian—and surprisingly soft to the touch.
In contrast to traditional polished or satin finishes, the Projekt 01 boasts a raw, authentic aesthetic that is deliberately non-decorative.
A strap designed for comfort and practicality
Inspired by outdoor equipment—and a certain smartwatch—the strap developed by Kollokium offers remarkable comfort.
Just the right amount of elasticity, breathable and quick-drying, it can be easily adjusted using a hook system and sewn loops. A truly practical approach, perfectly in line with the spirit of the project.
A reliable Swiss movement, deliberately left unfinished
Kollokium does not claim to be a watchmaker — and is proud of this stance. The Projekt 01 features the G101 automatic caliber from La Joux-Perret, offering 68 hours of power reserve, ideal for leaving the watch on all weekend.
As the brand does not touch the movement, it remains unsigned and undecorated. Invisible anyway, thanks to a solid caseback.
